About Alexander

Alexander Obermueller is a historian and postdoctoral researcher who has been affiliated with the Research Unit on Voluntariness since January 2025. He holds a PhD from Erfurt University and is currently revising his dissertation “On the Right Side: US-Conservatives’ Identity-based Politics and Contested Democracy, 1980-2000” for publication. His research interests include the history of conservatism, global history, medical history, and urban history. Combining the latter three, he works on a new project on the history of ambulance associations and public health in Buenos Aires, Philadelphia, and Vienna.
